Because this will never grow old...

I don't think I will ever tire of the clips in this post, even if I live to be 100. Just before eight on December 6th 2010, James Naughtie managed to, ehm, "mispronounce" the Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt's name on live radio. Here it is for your enjoyment:

Yes, I was listening to both of these as they actually happened. The funniest thing about the first was Naughtie's hapless attempt to pass off his understandable giggles as though he had something in his throat, which in this recording, when conflated with his apology some 10 minutes later, rather reduces the hilarity of his initial gaffe.
Marr's, just one hour later, is a raw, straight-forward foot-in-mouth, made all the more unbelieveable because he's trying to steer around the very trap that he falls into.
Just imagine if the interviewee had not been Jeremy Hunt but a female politician with the same surname, though I can't think of any at present. I think the reaction MIGHT have been very different - but I don't know for sure. Still funny, though.
