Tuesday Titter 8: I Will Survive

This weeks Tuesday Titter has been inspired by Stephen Glenn's recent entry for G in his "L, the U and Everything: A-Z of the Music I have". He posted a video of Gloria Gaynor singing "I Will Survive" which reminded me of this week's video.

It's an internet classic which has been around since long before You Tube! If you've not seen it before, watch and enjoy. If you have seen it before, watch and enjoy again!

I know you're only putting up this particular short video for a laugh.
However, without wishing to be a wet blanket, just thought I'd use this chance to say that I've never been able to totally shake off a certain discomfort about Gaynor ever since in the late 80s she allegedly made that remark about AIDS being sent from God, which, I also heard, she denied saying. I don't know what the truth is - there was, I remember a campaign (unsuccessful) to get her records banned from gay discos. I even made my own little contribution to the campaign be refusing to dance to them! ;-) It was all a pretty negative state of affairs at the time and MAY have been unfair - I just don't know. But I recall being disappointed when she, despite owing her global recognition largely due to having a large gay fan base in the first place, failed to clarify her then openly Christian attitudes, especially towards homosexuality. But maybe I missed it.

Right, that's off my chest. Now back to the fun!
