For this week's Sunday Sound, I've chosen a clip from a film - Kevin Spacey's biopic of Bobby Darin, Beyond the Sea. This is the title track, with a spot of dialogue to top and tail it:
I saw this film at the cinema on its initial release, and thought it wasn't at all bad. Kevin Spacey did an alright job but in the early part of the film he was clearly far too old to play the younger Darin, though his own singing throughout was pretty good, all things considered. Bobby D. was one of my very favourite singers in the 60s and I still recall the shock when I heard he'd of his death at a still young 37 in 1973 (Yes, I just looked it up to check.).
