I recently had today's entry for this series in my head at work the other week and it prompted this exchange with one of my young colleagues.
Me: I've got Madonna stuck in my head.
Colleague: Oh, what song?
M: Like a Prayer.
C: Ah. I can take or leave Madonna but I don't mind some of her earlier stuff like Ray of Light...
Cue much laughter on my part!
Unfortunately "Embedding has been disabled by request" so here's a link to the video of Madonna with Like a Prayer. It always reminds me of going to the shows in Bo'ness and, in particular, my first time on the Waltzers.

Funnily enough that was one of the 7 inch bits of plastic I rediscovered yesterday.
What are these 7 inch bits of plastic of which you speak?
Just so long as you were laughing at your colleague's remark about 'Ray of Light' being "earlier", rather than at the album itself - 'cos I bought it when it came out and like it as much now as then. But yes, her true early stuff - all on 'The Immaculate Collection' - is non-stop brilliance - and with a long-life too.
Hmmm... I'm not a fan but I do like her eighties stuff. Not sure I'm yet onvinced by Ray of Light etc, though.
That said, the laughter was very much about the idea that "Ray of Light" could be considered early!
These 7 inch pieces of plastic come with grooves for your pleasure.
