Just MAY go tomorrow - so that, Olympic-wise, I can put my feet up for the (possibly) entire cinema-less following fortnight or so.Raybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12424095016313843883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274602978151973604.post-63711460588314428442012-07-25T12:12:05.551+01:002012-07-25T12:12:05.551+01:00Ah - the absence of too much humour in his Batman ...Ah - the absence of too much humour in his Batman films is all part of the draw for me...

I think your pre-analysis of the faults with the storyline are right - if it were a tongue-in-cheek film, they maybe wouldn't jar.

The comments at the end (Made and Finished on film)I just took to be a declaration as to the process adopted rather than a definitive statement on the franchise! Indeed, I too believe that the door is open for further films, with or without The Batman.

Finally, it's not your computer - it's an ocassional issue I have with Blogger for which I have yet to discover a fix! Apologies for the dificulties caused.

Andrewoneexwidowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06574357521257043728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274602978151973604.post-50462620589800552472012-07-25T07:44:46.071+01:002012-07-25T07:44:46.071+01:00Sounds quite promising. Will probably go next week, Olympics permitting.

Although an admirer (big-time) of Nolan, his Batman films have been devoid of virtually all humour, which had made the knowingly campy TV series of the 1960s such a delight. But his is a different animal and I'm prepared to go along with it for the ride.
From what you say it sounds like its attempt to be darkly serious with its menacing backdrop inevitably sets up an expectation that all elements of the story ought to be justified in story-telling terms - which must mean that there will be gaps and disconnections of logic which, with a tongue-in-cheek presentation would have been laughed away. But let's not get over-analytical before I've even seen it!
I'm looking forward to seeing Tom Hardy who ought to have made a fine villain, though you've got reservations. Less so Catwoman, whose presence as villainess in all the Batman manifestations has always struck me as bringing a 'spoilsport' sexual element into the mix (but that's probably just me) though what you say is intriguing.
Anyway, you've got me looking forward to it rather more than I already was. I'll be surprised if I don't like it more than 'Spider-man', which itself was by no means a BAD film. (Despite what you say is declared on the end credits I hear that there's a thread of the tale left hanging, which could, if wanted, be taken up
by anyone wanting to make further sequels.)

Btw: Andrew, I don't think it's my computer but something strange happens to this blog. It's easy to read the first few paragraphs (white letters on purple background) - but from the paragraph beginning with "Once again, Nolan....." it changes to grey lettering against white lines, making legibility more challenging and hence slower to get through. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been your intention.Raybeardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12424095016313843883noreply@blogger.com
